Pattern Notes
Work every stitch in the back loop only.
Join each round with a slip stitch and pull tightly. Also pull the ch-1 tight at the beginning of each round. This will help hide the joins.
If you are using a styrofoam ball, work the pattern until you are done with the chart portion, then put the ball inside. You may have to dig into the ball just a bit when working the decreases, but it doesn’t change the shape of the ornament.
Crochet Christmas Ornament Pattern
Round 1: 6 sc in magic ring. Pull tightly to close.
Round 2: Inc in each st (12 sts). Remember to work all sts in back loops only!
Round 3: *Sc, inc; repeat around (18 sts).
Round 4: *2 sc, inc; repeat around (24 sts).
Change to B.
Round 5: *3 sc, inc; repeat around (30 sts).
Round 6: *4 sc, inc; repeat around (36 sts).
Round 7: *5 sc, inc; repeat around (42 sts).
Round 8: *6 sc, inc; repeat around (48 sts).
Rounds 9-16: Work chart.

Insert ball at this point to avoid pulling on your sts. If using fiberfill, work a couple of decrease rows first, then stuff firmly as you go.
Round 17: *With A sc1, dec, sc1, with B sc2, with A sc1, with B sc1, dec, sc1, with A sc1, with B sc1, with A dec, sc1; rep to end – 39 sts.
Round 18: *With A dec, sc2, with B dec, with A sc1, with B sc1, with A dec, sc1, dec; rep to end – 27 sts.
Round 19: *With A dec, sc2, with B dec, with A dec, sc1; rep to end – 18 sts.
Round 20: With A, *dec; rep to end – 9 sts.
Finishing
Place ornament cap on top of ornament, hiding tops of last round. Glue in place if desired.
If using fiberfill, stuff firmly and close top, then add ornament cap if using.
Weave in ends.
