This gift card holder is crocheted with the Primrose Stitch – a beautiful textured stitch.

Ch 14.

Row 1: [Sc, ch 2, sc] in 3rd ch from hook, *skip next 2 ch, [sc, ch 2, sc] in next ch, rep from * across, ending with hdc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, *3 dc in next ch-2 space, rep from * across, ending with dc in top of turning ch, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2 (counts as first hdc), * [sc, ch 2, sc] in 2nd dc of next shell, rep from * across, ending with hdc in top of turning ch, turn.

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until piece measures 7 1/4″ from beginning, ending with row 2 so ends are on opposite corners. Finish with instructions below.

Red Yarn Version

This version is crocheted using the blanket stitch – a real favorite of mine!

Ch 15.

Row 1: 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, *sk 2 ch, [sc, 2 dc] in next ch; repeat from *, ending with sc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in first st, *sk 2 dc, [sc, 2 dc] in next st; repeat from * ending with a sc in top of turning ch.

Repeat row 2 until piece measures 7 1/4″ from beginning, ending with an even row so ends are on opposite corners. Finish with instructions below.

Dark Green Yarn Version

This version is crocheted in the moss stitch, also called the seed stitch. It’s an easy single crochet, chain one pattern.

Ch 13.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 12 sts.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc, *sk 1 sc, ch 1, sc in next st; repeat from *, ending with a sc in last st.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first sc, *sk 1 sc, ch 1, sc in next ch sp; repeat from *, ending with a sc in last st.

Repeat row 3 until piece measures 7 1/4″ from beginning, ending with an even row so ends are on opposite corners. Finish with instructions below.

Olive Green Yarn Version

This version is created using the wattle stitch, another wonderfully textured stitch.

Row 1: *[sc, ch 1, dc] into 3d ch from hook, skip 2 ch; rep from * ending with sc into last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1 , skip first sc and next dc, *[sc, ch 1, dc] into next ch sp, skip 1sc and 1dc; rep from * ending with [sc, ch 1, dc] into last ch sp, skip next sc, sc into top of turning ch, turn.

Repeat row 2 until piece measures 7 1/4″ from beginning, ending with the ends on opposite corners. Finish with instructions below.

FINISHING – ALL VERSIONS

Fold in half.

Working through both layers, ch 1, sc evenly down side, 3 sc in corner, sc evenly across bottom, 3 sc in corner, sc evenly up other side. Finish off and tie ends together to form a long loop.
