Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations:
Chain Stitch (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Mini Bean Stitch (mbs) – insert hook into stitch indicated and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and pull up another loop in same stitch (4 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through 4 loops on hook.
Notes:
Bottom of bag worked in continuous rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark first st. It is also helpful to mark the first mbs with stitch marker.
I made this with several colors taken out of one cake. If desired, change colors at points mentioned in pattern.
Easy Crochet Soap Saver Pattern
Ch 7.
Round 1: 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 4, 3 sc in last ch, sc 4 on opposite side of foundation ch – 14 sts.
Round 2: 2 sc in first st, sc, 2 sc in next st, sc 4, 2 sc in next st, sc, 2 sc in next st, sc 4 – 18 sts.
Round 3: Sc, 2 sc in next st, sc, 2 sc in next st, sc 6, 2 sc in next st, sc, 2 sc in next st, sc 5 – 22 sts.
Round 4: Sc 2, 2 sc in next st, sc 2, 2 sc in next st, sc 7, 2 sc in next st, sc 2, 2 sc in next st, sc 5 – 26 sts.
Round 5: Sl st into next st, ch 3, dc in each st, join to top of ch-3 with sl st.
Round 6: Ch 3, dc in each st, join to top of ch-3 with sl st.
Change to second color if using.
Round 7: Ch 2, mbs in first st (NOT same st as join), *ch 1, skip next st, mbs in next st; repeat from * ch 1, join to first mbs with slip st; turn.
Round 8: Ch 2, mbs in first mbs, *ch 1, mbs in next mbs; repeat from * to end, ch 1; join to first mbs with slip st; turn.
Rounds 9-15: Repeat round 8, working in mbs pattern.
Change to third color if using.
Rounds 16-17: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join to top of ch-3 with sl st.
Round 18: Ch 1, sc in each at around, do not join.
Round 19: Sc in each st around, do not join.
Round 20: Ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch 1), skip next st, *hdc in next st, ch 1, skip next st; repeat from * around, join to 2nd ch of ch-3 with sl st.
Fasten off.
Draw String
Chain 60. Fasten off.
Weave through ch-2 spaces of round 20.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Place soap bar into soap saver bag and pull tie gently to close. Tie if desired.
How to Use a Crochet Soap Saver
Using a soap holder is super easy! All you do is put bar soap (can be a whole soap bar or just scraps!) into the bag and pull the drawstring tight.
Every time you are done, hang the bag to dry. You don’t want to leave it in the soap dish because the bottom will not get a chance to dry out and could mold.
