Materials
- I used scraps of 4 ply/fingering weight cotton yarn for my flowers, but you can use any yarn weight you wish – just use a matching hook.
- The yarn I used is Scheepjes Catona yarn to make these flowers.
- My favourite yarn for making flowers is Scheepjes Cotton 8 yarn which has ALL the colours! With excellent stitch definition, this is perfect for smaller projects like these crochet flowers.
- 3mm Crochet Hook

- Bobby Pins/Hair Grips and some felt
- Glue gun
Suggested hook sizes
- DK weight – 3.5mm hook
- 4 ply/fingering weight – 2.5mm or 3.00mm hook
Each flower measures approx 2.5”- 3” in diameter

Instructions for Crochet Gerbera Flowers
You can omit round 3 to make a single flower if you wish
Using first colour, ch 4, sl st to first ch to join in to a ring.
Round 1 : Ch 1, 10 sc into ring, sl st to first sc to join. Fasten off – 10 sc
Join in next colour to any st in front loop only. You will be working down the ch 6
Round 2 : Working in front loops only, [ch 6, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 2 chs, 1 sc in last ch, sl st in front loop of next st] 10 times, ending with a sl st to first st to join – 10 petals
Round 3 : Working behind petals from round 2, working in back loops only, sl st to back loop of first petal, [ch 7, 1 sc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 hdc in each of next 3 ch, 1 sc in last ch, sl st into back loop of next st] 10 times, ending with a sl st to first st – 10 petals
Fasten off and weave in threads.
Finishing
If you would like to make crochet flower hair clips, just grab your glue gun now!
Take a small circle of felt, and attach to the back of flower, and glue in place. Glue a bobby pin to the felt circle and leave to dry.
